Solid Phase Extraction (SPE)
Solid phase extraction (SPE) is a common sample preparation technique that is primarily used for the separation, purification and enrichment of complex samples. Comparing with liquid-liquid extraction technique, SPE has very high selectivity and good recovery. In addition, it has the advantages of fewer impurities, higher recovery; less amount of solvent usage, simpler operation, faster sample process, and higher automation.
On the basis of traditional SPE columns and discs, Biomics Inc. developed the BauloTM series of FritlessTM SPE columns with proprietary technologies. This series of SPE columns contains various packing materials, such as C18, that had gone through unique treatment process to enhance its mechanic strength. Therefore, the highly porous frits, which have strong non-specific absorption of the analytes, are eliminated. This fritless SPE column has the advantages of less channel effect, higher separation efficiency, and capacity.
As a professional manufacturer of SPE products, Biomics Inc. has strict quality assurance tests for each and every step from the raw materials to the final products. Proper measures are taken to ensure the superior performance and high reproducibility of the BauloTM SPE columns.
In addition to the Fritless SPE columns, Biomics also offers the regular SPE columns, especially for normal phase and other polar packing materials.

Bare silica, weak acidic, strong polar;
Reversed C18, high density of bonding, low loss, high recovery;
Reversed C8, similar non-polar like C18 but less retaining of non-polar compounds, useful for eluting strong non-polar compounds;
-CH2CH2CN, middle polarity, either normal or reversed phase;
-CH2CH2CH2NH2, either normal or reversed phase, retaining through the mechanism of WCX (water) or polar absorption (non-polar organic solvent);
Similar to NH2, PSA has two NH2 groups, ability of ion exchange stronger than NH2. PSA can also form complex with metal ions.
Strong anion exchanger, -NR4+;
COOH, Weak cation exchanger;
Strong cation exchanger, -C6H5SO3H;
Strong cation exchanger, -C6H5SO3H

PS
Functional PS-DVB SPE columns, the surface has hydrophilic and hydrophobic groups simultaneously, pH ranges 1-14,its ability of absorbing analytes and sample capacity is 3-10 time more than the C18 based packing.
Functional PS-BVB SPE column with polarity slightly smaller than PEP, specifically used for preparing samples of HXN;
Bare PS-DVB, high unit surface area (600m2/g), polarity stronger than C18. High absorption and sample capacity for both polar and non-polar compounds.
